The Tiverton School Committee invites exceptional candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

Tiverton is located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay, across the Sakonnet River from Aquidneck Island (also known as the Island of Rhode Island). With sweeping views of the Sakonnet River and Narragansett Bay, Tiverton's coastline offers sandy beaches and winding coastal roads. The northern portion of Tiverton is on Mount Hope Bay. Tiverton is west of the town of Westport and south of the city of Fall River, located in Massachusetts. Tiverton Four Corners, a beautifully preserved historic district, boasts antique shops, art galleries, and cafes, and this coastal New England town offers plenty of opportunities to connect with nature while retaining a genuine and welcoming feel. According to the United States Census Bureau, Tiverton has a total area of 36.3 square miles, of which 29.4 square miles is land and 7.0 square miles (19.16 percent) is water. As of the census of 2020, there are 16,196 people, 6,651 households, and 4,405 families residing in the town. The median income for a household in the town is $89,000, and the median income for a family is $58,917.

Tiverton Public Schools is led by a five member School Committee, and currently serves approximately 1,600 students, Pre-K through Grade 12. For the 2025-2026 school year, the district will have 2 elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.

The vision for the Tiverton Public Schools is to be a premier educational institution, a source of pride and innovation while preparing all students for post-secondary education. To live out its mission, the Tiverton Public Schools seeks to provide all students with an exceptional education through high-quality instruction and positive relationships. To guide this important work, the Tiverton Public Schools “Portrait of a Graduate” provides the five following areas of focus: empathy, collaboration, responsibility, communication and critical thinking skills.

The fiscal year 2025 approved budget is $34,388,090 and consists of $28,537,309 from town appropriations (including capital) and $5,850,781 from state aid.

Recent District Highlights and Accomplishments

Tiverton High School has recently been named an AP Honor Roll School for both access and passage rate. It has also earned the highest accreditation rating from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and offers an impressive array of CTE programs.
The district has implemented enhanced professional development and training for staff, including Universal Design for Learning, Project Based Learning, Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, as well as a coaching program for new teachers.
Tiverton Public Schools has undergone a digital transformation, providing all students with Chromebooks, equipping staff with technology training to enhance instruction, implementing multiple software programs, integrating AR/VR tools, and installing TOUCH ITS (Digital Learning Boards) in many classrooms.
The schools have improved standardized test scores (RICAS and SAT) across the district, with some RICAS scores ranking among the highest in Rhode Island.

The Tiverton School Committee seeks a strong educational leader with a demonstrated record of attaining results in student achievement. Demonstrated competency in the following areas are of importance to the Committee:

Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
A collaborative and inclusive leadership style
The ability to build trust and capacity in the leadership team
Expertise in school budgeting

Working cooperatively with the School Committee, the superintendent will:

Project a vision that strengthens the academic experience and outcomes for all students
Promote a district-wide safe climate and culture that allows students to flourish and grow intellectually, emotionally and socially
