The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced water works professional to lead our Water & Sewer Division. The Department has recently implemented Town-wide advanced metering infrastructure and an interim PFAS treatment system. Over the next few years, we anticipate the continued evaluation of PFAS treatment options and as a partially-supplied MWRA community, considering a secondary connection to the MWRA water supply. Goals include decreasing unaccounted-for water, increasing conservation efforts, and proactively maintaining and improving our water and sewer infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide outstanding customer service; lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team; oversee daily operations including emergency responses; ensure regulatory compliance; and develop, prepare, and administer operating and capital budgets.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field: five (5) years’ experience in water and/or sewer utility management, certification at the Distribution Class 3 and Treatment Class 2 levels, as defined by the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities; knowledge of hydraulics, water treatment processes, and conveyance operations and familiarity with the use of Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems; knowledge of construction operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience; a valid Massachusetts Class D driver’s license and excellent written and oral communication skills.
