We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, along with the ability to analyze financial data effectively. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's financial health and providing insights for decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounts.
• Assist in tax preparation and compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Interpret financial reports to provide actionable insights to management.
• Support governmental accounting processes as required by specific projects or contracts.
• Collaborate with private equity stakeholders to provide necessary financial documentation and reporting.
• Prepare forecasts and budgets to assist in strategic planning.
• Utilize Sage software for accounting functions, including data entry, reporting, and analysis.
• Participate in audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.

Skills

• Proficient in balance sheet reconciliation techniques.
• Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with governmental accounting standards is a plus.
• Experience with private equity accounting is desirable.
• Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately.
• Skilled in financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) regulations is advantageous.
• Proficient in forecasting techniques for budgeting purposes.
• Experience using Sage accounting software or similar platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
