Position Summary:      

The Senior Retirement Plan Administrator serves as the primary TPA contact for a client’s retirement plan(s) and is responsible for the delivery of retirement plan administration and compliance services, plan reconciliation, conversions, and special projects as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall conversion of a new client onto NFP’s TPA service platform and identification of any deficiencies regarding the plan to be remedied.
  • Responsible for the daily administration of each assigned plan, including communication with the plan sponsor client and plan participants to resolve any inquiries and perform all routine tasks related to plan administration. All investment related questions will be referred to the plan’s investment advisor.
  • Oversee the contribution process and resolve any outstanding issues that arise from time to time. This includes an annual reconciliation of contributions to the plan.
  • Request the completion of the annual compliance questionnaire and employee census. The Senior Plan Administrator will set up and conduct a meeting with each client to review the required information and address any operational or service-related issues that exist with the client, NFP, and/or other service providers associated with the plan.
  • Review plan document and process any amendments, as necessary.
  • Perform and prepare reports for all required testing and compliance reporting including processing to correct any Plan deficiencies.
  • Facilitate removal of terminated employees from the plan, as applicable.
  • Prepare and deliver to the client all required participant notices.
  • Prepare Forms 5500 and 8955-SSA.
  • Facilitate annual plan audit, as required.
  • To the extent that these processes have not been automated, process participant loans and distributions with coordination between client, participant, and recordkeeper/custodian as is appropriate. This includes any required minimum distributions and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
  • Coordinate plan and service terminations.
  • Document all client-related activity in Salesforce.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled Retirement Department meetings.
  • Participation in the Annual Review and Planning Meeting – assistance in cleaning up small account balances and providing solutions for failed compliance testing (level of requirements based on client segmentation)
  • Coordination with the Atlantic Retirement team for successful outcomes
  • Full and open communication with supervisors and peers
  • Responsible for being the primary point of contact for specific recordkeeping platforms and a subject matter expert for assigned topics in retirement plan administration.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Be current and proficient in all areas of retirement plans and processes including, but not limited to, 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), and “top-hat” 457(b) plans
  • Ability to research regulations and other guidance
  • Be current and knowledgeable on latest technological advances in retirement plan administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, participants, and other service providers both orally and in writing.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressive industry experience, preferable to have ASPPA or similar credentials (QKA, QKC, QPA).
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and willingness to learn any software implemented within NFP.
  • FT William software experience is a plus

The base salary range for this position is $68,000 – $80,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
