The Senior Food Processing Engineer is an exciting position working with a great team! This position will lead processing initiatives for Innovation projects from designing experimental phase to testing and scale up production. The Senior Food Processing Engineer will partner with internal and/or external partners on process optimization, improving efficiency of current equipment and/or process supporting business continuity applications. This position will also consult with other plant locations on projects and leverage food industry experience to proactively work toward solutions to processing challenges of food products.
Primary Responsibilities
* Drives the development of processes/technologies for Innovation projects from concept to commercialization.
* Leads moderately complex engineering projects/experiments supporting business continuity.
* Conducts feasibility studies and implements new and approved processes.
* Collaborates with internal and external partners to identify root cause of process and production problem, solves and implements effective solution related to product processing and document in specifications for production consistency.
* Support engineering team on Capital Request and engineering projects when directly related to R&D initiatives.
* Able to travel up to 40%, working as a cross-facility team member with other teams, partners, locations and corporate. (Based at corporate R&D)
Education and Experience
* B.S. degree either in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Food/Agricultural/Biological Engineering with food industry experience and track record of successful engineering project delivery.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in food processing including manufacturing process, equipment and materials, process engineering & modeling, manufacturing, or continuous improvement. Formula development experience is a plus.
* Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, planning skills to identify creative solutions to problems.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment and on high performing teams
* Strong communication, listening, and influencing skills
* Fundamental knowledge of project management
* Technical certification (Better Process Control School, Thermal processing certifications) is a plus.
* Knowledgeable with Acidified/LACF, Fermentation, and/or Acetation processing is a plus.
