JOB SUMMARY:

The Operations Accounting Senior will perform general accounting functions and the preparation of reports and statistics reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial results. Formulates and administers approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Accurate reporting of revenue, including deferrals

  • Manage inventory obsolescence with operations

  • No significant out-of-period adjustments

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Operations Accounting Senior will work with a team of accounting professionals to support the field operations for Pest, Distribution, Ambius and other businesses with focus on the following;

  • Review journal entries prepared by Staff Accountant

  • Review reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountant and assist Manager with preparing detailed fluctuation analysis for accounting leadership

  • Prepare journal entries for assigned accounts; review GL accounts/financial statements for reasonableness

  • Assist with the revenue recognition process to ensure compliance with accounting principles on deferred revenue, flux analyses, and related SOX controls

  • Assist with the development and implementation of new accounting policies and memos and the maintenance of existing ones

  • Review customer contracts for revenue recognition to ensure compliance with company policies and appropriate revenue recognition standards

  • Seek out process improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency and accuracy of revenue monthly close process

  • Drive strategic initiatives that increase the efficiency and accuracy of revenue monthly close process

  • Identify events - i.e., missing rent, utilities, charges posted to wrong accounts etc

  • Estimate amounts to accrue, defer, reverse or change based upon historical data and knowledge of business

  • Agree balances to supporting documentation/source (operating system, bank statements, etc)

  • Identify/research/resolve any unusual balances for trial balance and P&L accounts

  • Assist in development and design of accounting processes to mitigate controls risks

  • Assess accounting impacts of business changes

  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and accounting policies

  • Develop and coach staff members on the Operations Accounting team to foster career growth

  • Ensure security and integrity of Rentokil North America’s financial information

  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis

  • Assist with Internal and External Audits by assigning duties to the Staff Accountant and ensuring data and support documentation received satisfies the auditors request

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

CANDIDATE SUMMARY

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance fields

  • Experience with multi-unit organization

Formal Education, Qualifications or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field or equivalent relevant experience - Required

  • MBA in finance, accounting or related field - Preferred
