Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2024 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2024 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) that plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the development and execution of comprehensive test plans and automation scripts. This position requires a strong understanding of software development principles, as well as expertise in testing methodologies and tools.
More specifically, as an SDET you will:
- Develop and maintain test automation framework that contains tests for functional, integration, performance, and security testing.
- Execute automated test cases to verify software functionality and performance.
- Ensure frameworks support maintainability, reusability, and adaptability to evolving project requirements.
- Develop and maintain different testing stages into CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate testing strategies seamlessly into the software development lifecycle.
- Identify gaps in test coverage and develop quality test code to fill such gaps.
- Participate in code reviews and identify opportunities to improve earlier in the process.
- Identify and analyze the root cause of complex bugs in your code as well as others’ code.
- Analyze and report on test results, identify defects, and document issues accurately and efficiently.
- Design and execute performance and load tests to evaluate software scalability and reliability under various conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, QA engineers, and Product Owners to ensure alignment on quality goals and priorities based on product requirements.

- Hybrid working arrangement (two days per week at our Glenview, IL office location).
- The compensation range for this position is $105,000 – $116,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be set based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), or similar Test Automation role.
- Experience with open-source test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Webdriver IO, Selenium, Cucumber, TestNG, Cypress, etc. automating Web Browser User Interfaces and API endpoints.
- Knowledge of defect tracking systems and test case management systems preferably with qTest.
- Experience working with and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines and software delivery, preferably with Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in developing reusable, maintainable, and object-oriented code.
- Ability to show strong programming skills in languages related to Test Automation frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Agile, SAFE development methodologies.
- Experience with product/project management and design
tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and Figma
- Knowledge of 403(b),
401(k) pension record-keeping systems, and/or health and welfare benefits
systems.
