National Grid is hiring a Sr. Welding Supervisor for our collaborative and driven DNY Gas Construction Operations team in Brightwaters, NY. This is an on-site position.

Position
Work on the development and management of the safety, scope, schedule, budget, compliance, quality, and construction execution of in-house gas construction welding and inspection operations in downstate New York. We're a team-oriented group that collaborates continuously and is committed to each other's success.
What You'll Do
- In this highly visible role, you'll be part of the Gas Construction management team
- Guide and grow a team of welders through training and career progression
- Engage with internal stakeholders, such as Engineering, Gas Operations, LNG, I&R, and Gas Control, as well as external entities such as API to bring best practices to the company
- Represent the company in regular regulatory discussions
- Attend leadership meetings and be a meaningful contributor in the implementation of our long-term strategy and vision
- Interpret drawings and design blueprints to ensure proper construction, as well as seek opportunities to create efficiencies
- Qualify and review welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification records, and welder performance qualifications in both API 1104 and ASME B31.3 welding environments
- Responsible for field supervision of construction activities and pipeline fabrication in accordance with all codes, rules, and regulations
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience welding, weld testing, and/or welding quality oversight preferred
- Certified Welding Inspector designation issued by the American Welding Society with extensive API 1104 work experience, prior NDE certification or extensive knowledge of RT, MT, UTS, or PT testing preferred
- Proficiency with basic MS Office Suite required
- Valid driver's license required

- You're comfortable working with and presenting across all areas of the company.
- You have great relationships with technical experts, engineers and consultants and can build working relationships across several cross functional teams and unions.

Downstate NY Salary: $130,000 - $153,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
