Position: Sr. Platform Engineering Program Manager
Location: ONSITE - Houston, TX is preferred but can sit in Chippewa Falls, MN (outside Minneapolis) San Jose CA/The Bay Area, or Fort Collins, CO - Can make a note of if Hybrid style is preferred
Duration: PERMANENT FULL TIME ROLE
Pay Range: $110,000-$140,000/Yr. (negotiable depending on experience)
Start Date: November 1st

Provides support and/or oversees teams through the Engineering development process and implementation of the company's products. Focused on program management of enterprise server design, development, and sustenance. Has experience and knowledge of program management skills around schedule, cost, BOM, and resource management. Well-versed in program management skills, presenting to an executive audience around server program status on critical issues, quality updates, and new feature introductions. Ability to drive feasibility studies and work with technical teams as well as program core team members to align solutions to complex program issues.
Manage activities, resource capability, schedules, and budgets, and ensure cross-company communications to facilitate product completion on schedule within budget. Work with engineering management to identify and improve process and program efficiencies. Work can involve external parties such as standards bodies, partners, etc. Demonstrates good teamwork and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert from a program perspective. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where assessment of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Might need to represent the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to Junior level employees.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and oversees a program involving one or more functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for a subsystem or component of a product or service offering.
- Develops schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned program.
- Coordinates activities of supporting project teams and internal and external development partners; tracks progress against established plan and makes decisions to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule.
- Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue assessment to product stakeholders; collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to implement changes to product, process, or program plan to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
- Single point of contact for Sustaining engineering functional teams and works as a conduit between technical engineering teams and core team functions like product management, operations, supply chain, quality and so on.
- Oversees Customer Resolution Escalations, factory escalated issues, field quality assessment and custom solutions feasibility and solution integration.
- Regularly track and update product quality assessment using quality metrics data.
- Oversees the investigation of Custom Solutions from the CSG team to provide comprehensive deliverables and updates on CSG opportunities.
- Conducts RFQ/NRE discussions with ODM partners on CSG and sustaining activities and ensures respective budgetary is tracked and updated in the financial tracker.
- Provides approval on engineering recommendations after working closely with technical engineering teams.
- Oversee post-launch option qualification and approval of new features and configurations on shipping servers
- Tracks and drives open defects on sustaining platforms to closure.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Management/Computer Science Engineering or Electronics
- Typically 6-10 years of experience.
- PMP/PMI certification preferred.
- Using project planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and directing matrixed teams and resources.
- Ability to create and manage program schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
- Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at management levels.
- Work with vendors and partners to drive engineering teams towards issue resolution and timely completion of development and validation efforts.
- Has experience working on complex system-level technical and process issues.
- Can triage and narrow down issues to specific functional blocks.
- Good understanding of System-level blocks, Firmware, BIOS, BMC and Operating System.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex system issues, and perform trade-off analysis between cost, schedule, and feature. Come up with budget/costing proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
