We are actively hiring for a Senior Manager, Commercial Billing and Payments!
Your Role:
As a Senior Manager, Commercial Billing and Payments, you will play a critical role in leading and optimizing our billing operations. Responsibilities include managing the billing team, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of premium invoicing, overseeing premium audits, maintaining comprehensive billing records, and formulating policies and procedures to enhance premium collection and payment processes. You will be the primary point of contact and expert in commercial billing and play an instrumental part in shaping the development of our billing functions.
Your Work:
Billing and Invoicing Management
Establish operational objectives and work plans.
Ultimately accountable for the overall performance of the Billing team. Dependent on staffing structure, may be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Billing team and/or delegating appropriately to leaders on team.
Oversee the preparation, issuance, and management of all invoices and bills, agency bill and direct bill commission payments, and non-premium invoices.
Responsible for ensuring communication and collaboration across diverse business communities (includes Product Management, Underwriting, Finance, Accounting, others), including ensuring correct premiums and payment accounts are invoiced and applied.
Ensure the accuracy and compliance of billing with insurance regulations and company policies.
Provide rigorous oversight of accounts receivable.
Involved in developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect.
Customer Service and Communication
Liaise with brokers, agents, and insured to resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
Set a standard of exceptional service to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
Influence stakeholders at all levels while fostering positive working relationships.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Monitor and report on billing metrics and financial performance.
Analyze trends in billing and collections, making recommendations for improvements.
Work closely with Accounting to resolve downstream billing impacts from accounts receivable and payables.
Maintain domain-related financial reporting in support of controls/audits.
Process Improvement and Compliance
Work with Business Architecture to develop and implement efficient billing processes and systems.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in internal and external financial and operational control audits.
Technology and Systems Management
Leverage technology to optimize billing processes.
Work closely with IT, data management, and finance teams to maintain and enhance billing systems.
Required Experience, Education and Skills:
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.); Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
A minimum of 8 years of experience working in billing or finance required.
Prior property and casualty insurance industry experience required.
Proven leadership and team management skills with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a people leader required.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing large work volumes while meeting established service standards.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
What would make us excited about you?
Prior commercial insurance industry experience and knowledge strongly preferred.
Familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance standards preferred.
Strong knowledge of billing systems and insurance premium collection processes.
Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).

The national average salary range for this position is $136,800.00 - $152,000.00 annually. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $123,120.00 - $182,500.00 annually. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 18% of eligible pay.
