We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead and execute the ongoing business development and marketing efforts for our Litigation Department. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this position will provide strategic guidance and execute tactics identified to achieve specific business development, marketing, and client retention and expansion objectives across the firm. This is a highly visible, leadership-facing position that will work closely with practice and office leaders, individual shareholders, other members of the Business Development team and various internal operations departments. This position is hybrid but will consider a remote work arrangement if located in a State with a Ballard presence. We are also considering candidates from Seattle, WA, Portland, OR and Anchorage, AK.
This position will also focus on several Firm-wide initiatives, including attorney business development skills training, internal education training, client service standards training and the execution of strategy for the Litigation Department. The Senior Business Development Manager exercises discretion and independent judgment while working under the general direction of the Director of Business Development and according to established Firm policies and procedures.
Your Role:
As a Senior Business Development Manager within our Marketing and Business Development Department your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing business development plans, as well as identifying opportunities for current and potential clients.
Providing business development coaching in group and one-on-one settings and supporting lawyers in the development of their individual attorney business development plans.
Providing strategic guidance to attorneys and collaborating with the Proposal Team on relevant content and positioning for pitch materials, proposals, and RFP responses; and occasionally lead proposal responses.
Building brand awareness for the firm, aligning those efforts with broader firm and department goals.
Providing training and strategic guidance to the other Business Development Managers.
Proactively modeling leadership qualities and encouraging other members of the team to focus on collaboration across practices and markets.
Leading the Business Development team meetings along with the Director, demonstrating a high level of engagement and collaboration in these meetings.

Required Experience:
A bachelor degree in a relevant area with a minimum five years’ experience in professional services marketing required. Excellent writing, editing, communication (oral and written). Strong project management, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Strong computer proficiency a must, with particular knowledge of Interaction a plus. Significant business knowledge and experience and an intense client service attitude.

The salary range for this position is from $155,000 - $175,000 depending upon experience and location.
