Security Engineer - Security Platform

This role will work in our Phoenix Home Office - Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Position Overview: The Security Engineer – Security Platform is responsible for evaluating, implementing, and maintaining enterprise security tools to ensure a secure IT environment. This individual will focus on engineering robust security solutions, deploying and managing security tools, and providing technical expertise to safeguard enterprise systems. The role requires strong knowledge of information security technologies and processes, with a hands-on approach to deploying, configuring, and maintaining security solutions across various platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, and maintain security solutions across endpoint, network, and email security systems.
• Configure and manage security platform policies to optimize security tools for maximum protection.
• Partner with endpoint management teams to ensure proper deployment and functionality of security agents on all endpoint devices.
• Identify, triage, and resolve security-related issues impacting network and endpoint performance, minimizing disruption to business operations.
• Manage and coordinate support cases with security platform vendors, ensuring timely resolution of escalated issues.
• Act as a subject matter expert for security tools, providing expert-level support to other engineering teams.
• Continuously monitor the health and functionality of security tools, focusing on endpoint agents and remediating any system health issues.
• Ensure security tools are kept up to date, implementing the latest patches and leveraging new capabilities to enhance security posture.
• Develop and implement automation processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of security platform operations.
• Integrate security solutions with Splunk and other monitoring platforms to facilitate centralized monitoring, alerting, and streamlined security incident response.
• Work with the Risk Management team to assess IT systems and recommend and design security controls.
• Participate in a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) to respond to security incidents.
• Support annual security audits, including PCI and SOX compliance.
• Stay informed on the latest developments in the information security field through continuous learning, research, and industry engagement.

Education and Experience:

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience in information security, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work/military experience.
• 6+ years of relevant industry experience in Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work/military experience.
• Security certifications are a plus (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, SANS, Cisco, Microsoft certifications).

Qualifications:

Highly Desired:

• Strong technical understanding of network fundamentals and common Internet protocols.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and strong note-taking skills.
• Hands-on experience managing web proxy/filtering tools.
• Hands-on experience managing Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tools.
• Hands-on experience managing security reporting and alerting content within a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.
• Experience writing scripts for security automation and operational efficiency.
• Technical knowledge and working experience with common IT platforms, including Windows Server, Windows 11, macOS, Linux, Active Directory Services, GCP, Azure, and Salesforce.
• Ability to work independently on enterprise projects and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain security topics and risks to a business audience.
