Safety Specialist III, Senior or Lead (Level will is dependent on experience)
Where will you work: The successful candidate can work out of our FishHawk office or any of our Central Florida Mining Sites. This position will cover our Louisiana and FL mining locations. You will also, be eligible to work a 9/80 or 4/10 schedule.
Are you passionate about creating safe work environments and leading health and safety programs? We’re looking for a dynamic safety professional to join our team! In this role, you’ll oversee the development and execution of health and safety processes to ensure the well-being of our Capital and Operation contractors. You’ll also guide and manage the effective execution of Contractor Health and Safety programs, proactively handling risks to prevent on-the-job injuries and illnesses. Working closely with the Manager of Contractor Safety, you’ll implement oversight and monitoring systems to ensure compliance with our standards and improve health and safety performance across multiple sites and states. Plus, you’ll provide early risk management support for capital projects, ensuring necessary controls are built into project designs and budgets. Develop and execute strategies and auditing processes to ensure contractor adherence to safety program requirements.
Drive a proactive risk management program to identify and control health and safety risks before injuries occur.
Evaluate and manage contractor safety improvement strategies for all projects.
Investigate and resolve contractor safety issues, participates in incident investigations, and recommends program solutions.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Operations on contractor qualifications and performance.
Work with other business units to develop a common approach for contractor safety management.
Manage contractor tracking and evaluations for capital projects.
Analyze contractor health and safety performance data to drive continuous improvement.
Integrate EHSMS processes into contractor management systems.
Support Technical Services in managing Health & Safety for capital projects.
Oversee the “Early Management Process” to embed proactive risk control strategies into projects.
Support pre-startup HS reviews to ensure risk controls are in place.
Train project managers and engineers on identifying and controlling HS risks.
Ensure project managers have fundamental HS compliance skills and facilitates their attendance at training programs.
Develop and execute a learning and development strategy for contractors, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
Improve risk control knowledge and tools for contractors through ongoing education and communication.
Provide site and field support during projects and turnarounds, including planning meetings, audits, and investigations.
Establish partnerships with key leaders to align business plans with contractor safety plans for zero injuries and world-class safety performance.
What you’ll need:
Safety Specialist III
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience OR high school diploma with at least 7 years relevant experience is required.
Advanced knowledge of applicable safety regulatory framework in the area of work (OSHA, MSHA).
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety & Risk Professional (CSRP) is highly valued.
Individuals with specific facilitation training or root cause analysis (RCA) training are highly desired.
Senior Safety Specialist
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least 5 years’ experience as a safety professional in an industrial/mining environment OR high school diploma with at least 9 years relevant experience, with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Expert knowledge of applicable safety regulatory framework in the area of work (OSHA, MSHA).
Professional designation such as CSP or CRSP.
Individuals with specific facilitation training or root cause analysis (RCA) training are highly desired.
Safety Lead
Bachelor's Degree in related field plus 7 relevant years’ experience, or high school graduate and 11 or more years of relevant experience with increasing level of responsibility.
Professional designation, such as CSP or CRSP, or have significant people leader experience.
All levels:
Must be able to work comfortably and safely in an industrial environment
Frequent travel to all Florida Mine sites is required (2-3 times per year to Louisiana site)
Ability and desire to coach others
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), basic understanding of databases
Ability to interface effectively throughout the facility’s workforce
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work independently
Good understanding of Mosaic’s EHS Standards / Phosphate Policies & Procedures
