The Baylor Heart Hospital Plano

Registered Nurse - 4 CUB

Patient Population:Heart, Lung, and Vascular

Shift:Full Time / 3/12's / Nights

Patient Ratios: TELE 1:4 PCU: 1:3, ICU 1:2

Type of Cases:ICU/PCU/TELE We care for a wide cardiovascular patient population including post-TAVR, post-Robotic Lung Surgery, post-Vascular Surgery, EKOS, LVADs, CRRT, IABP, STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, Cardiac Arrhythmias, DVTs/Pulmonary Embolism, PVD/PAD. (Unit does not recover post open-heart patients or manage Impella devices)

Required Experience: Minimum (1)one year (prefer 2 years) recent full-time Telemetry/EKG experience, knowledge of basic hemodynamics and cardiac medications (experience with cardiac drips preferred).

*RN's w/o ICU experience should expect working up to 1 year at Tele/CVPCU level prior to leveling up to ICU

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.

What You'll Do

  • You, as an RN, will conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.
  • You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.

What Will Make You Successful In The Role

  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION- Grad of an Accredited Program

MAJOR- Nursing

EXPERIENCE: Minimum (1)one year (prefer 2 years) recent full-time Telemetry/EKG experience, knowledge of basic hemodynamics and cardiac medications (experience with cardiac drips preferred).

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION- Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
