Role Overview

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for the proper accounting and recording in accordance with GAAP to ensure alignment of services offered reflect proper timely revenue and expense recognition.

Scope of Work

  • Responsible for business unit(s) (Travel & Events and Performance Solutions) revenue accounting with daily requests, and monthly close requirements
  • High Acuity/Ensures ASC 606 GAAP revenue and expense recognition is being followed and timing of revenue recognition is consistent with contract wording/services being provided
  • Understands and applies billing / revenue accounting processes and practices
  • Prepares complex client / supplier invoices
  • Assists in financial statement preparation (accruals, budget-actual comparison, discrepancy research and resolution)
  • Prepares other ad hoc reports and analysis
  • Assists in evaluating auditor’s comments and developing action plans to resolve open issues
  • Supports the initiative to strengthen and maintain efficiency of the accounting function by performing processes and procedures per policies laid out
  • Supports implementation of process improvements and improvements of information to customers
  • Answers account management questions related to client invoices
  • Responsible for working with project billing staff
  • Supports decrease number of days to close (goal tbd)
  • Implement systems and processes to speed up processing time while maintaining accuracy and integrity of data
  • Supports the automated multi cadence of KPI operational and financial dashboards
  • Supports accounting system implementations and integrations
  • Help supports the implementation and maintain SOPs/Policies for major accounting process
  • Participate in cross functional training program
  • Support implementation of accounting flowchart for revenue and billing processes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applies experience and working knowledge to accomplish tasks and processes. Has working level skills and abilities, but it still learning to address more complex problems, processes, and applying analytics.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 3 years of comprehensive experience in accounting, preferably billing
  • Financial expertise in POC billing and GAAP ASC606 revenue recognition
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Experience with efficient processes and the use of technology
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to perform financial and broad quantitative analyses; good understanding of operations
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills with the ability to interact with all functions of a company, including the executive level
  • Demonstrated success of working cross-functionally as well as independently
  • Ability to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand.
  • Experience with Netsuite is a plus but not a required
