WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Reef Resilience Specialist (RRS) will operate from our Coral Innovation Hub located on St. Croix, USVI. The RRS will provide implementation, monitoring, and research support for ongoing coral restoration efforts around St. Croix, including one of the world's largest coral reef restoration projects across a 150-acre site within a marine protected area. The RRS works with the coral team to plan, execute, and document multiple restoration projects that aim to bolster ecological and coastal resiliency. The RRS participates in all aspects of coral restoration projects and works in the field, at the land-based nursery, and in an office setting. The RRS supports planning, execution, and documentation of asexual and sexual coral propagation, coral outplanting, and coral reef monitoring. The RRS also contributes to the hub's mission to refine and improve restoration techniques through experimental design; data collection, processing, and analysis and reporting. The RRS works within a team and supports day-to-day hub operations by maintaining and organizing workspaces and equipment. In addition to supporting our Field Team in our general restoration work, this position will analyze data collected during the 2023 and 2024 bleaching events in tandem with publicly available data from prior years, to identify resilient reefs and corals, and help coordinate continued disturbance monitoring (i.e., bleaching and subsequent disease outbreaks). The RRS will lead the processing and analysis of Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry data for this project, while also providing such support to our wider SfM program.
