The Rail Leasing Commercial Manager role is an opportunity for someone that is passionate about improving the safety, profitability, sustainability and customer centricity of the Chemicals and Products organization by developing strategies to optimize the Downstream rail fleet to ensure safety and compliance, reduce cost and increase asset utilization.

You will be part of the HSSE and Logistics team, a highly collaborative and innovative center of excellence. The team's purpose is to provide safety leadership for Shell and the industry, increase profitability through first class logistics solutions, build sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint of our supply chains and create an unrivaled customer experience.

As a Rail Leasing Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for rail tank car fleet utilization for Shell Chemicals and Products and various Downstream businesses. You will work closely with various stakeholders to determine business needs and appropriate fleet size. This role is accountable for the planning and optimization of a rail fleet of more than 10,000 railcars in North America. The Rail Leasing Commercial Manager is the Lead Contract Holder for all rail lease contracts held by Shell and is responsible for managing the CAPEX and OPEX business plans for the acquisition and leases of railcars.

You will use your stakeholder management skills to nurture collaborative internal and external stakeholder relationships and drive initiatives that meet the rail fleet strategy and goals as part of the Chemicals and Products organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Works under broad guidance and supervision by Manager for complex activities

  • Manages one or more operational logistics projects

  • Has moderate exposure to / interaction with Shell business leadership and operational external stakeholders

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics or any other related field is preferred

  • Wit at least 5 years relevant experience

  • Experience in Routine communications with third party vendors, Planners, Schedulers, and Business Unit Managers

  • Ability to understand and translate business strategies and value propositions to generate value/savings

  • Capable of influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Familiarity with contract management regarding rail fleet leasing and purchasing

  • Knowledge of land logistics operations, including Hazardous Materials knowledge

  • Excellent grasp of logistics, procurement & operational excellence processes and their relationships in the end-to-end supply chain

  • Experience in Global SAP (or other SAP versions), Transportation Management and Fleet Management systems,Excel, Word, Outlook, Share Point

  • Data driven and detailed oriented

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
