The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $129,000 - $161,000.
The Project Director is responsible for multiple utility scale renewable construction projects during the transition from the Development Team through the achievement of Commercial Operation and handover to Operations, which include the responsibility of safely managing all project activities.
The Project Director will manage assigned projects with a project team consisting of both Avangrid Project team members and seconded staff, including but not limited to Project Manager, Contract Manager, Engineers, Planner, Site/Construction Manager. By introducing good management practices in line with the guidelines of the PMBOK and Avangrid's internal procedures.
Project Director is the ultimate responsible of the success of the project and make sure it meets company goals. The Project Director should monitor all aspects of the assigned projects with an understanding and view to critical paths, risks, mitigation plans and project recovery. The Project Director must evaluate and approve all contractual changes together with the Contract Managers and the Avangrid Senior management, prepare reports for Senior management and to be a facilitator between the Project and the Senior Management.
In addition to managing assigned projects, the Project Director will provide coaching and mentoring to project managers and guide them in the right direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Director will manage project budgets between $100M to $700M, being able to provide accurate cost reports and explanations about actual costs and forecast to company Senior management team.
Responsible for negotiation and management of engineering, procurement, and construction ("EPC") activities.
Leads a team of professionals who provide management / technical expertise and project support through design, construction, commissioning, and operations to ensure that project milestones are met safely, with high Quality, on schedule, and within budget on multiple wind and thermal energy projects.
Provides periodic updates to company Senior management group on project activities, progress, and issues.
Develop a safety and quality awareness culture, emphasized at the personal workplace, within project designs and throughout construction and operation.
Assists with technical due diligence in conjunction with other departments.
Responsible for effective forecasting of Company's capital budget spending on assigned projects.
Responsible for providing support to plant operations, including plant and process improvements, equipment acquisition, plant breakdown analysis, and recommending corrective actions.
Ensures process feedback mechanisms are implemented and utilized for identifying process efficiencies and improvements, including process and functional quality audits, and focusing on Company strategic initiatives.
Support onboarding and provide expert advice, as requested by new project managers.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years of Project Management experience leading large EPC industrial projects.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiating and dispute resolution skills.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management, supervision, and administration.
Experience with risk management.
Knowledge and experience with budget preparation, implementation, and oversight.
Proficiency using tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other Enterprise Management System.
Ability to travel 50%.
Preferred Qualifications:
A working Knowledge of safety laws, environmental laws, labor laws, construction law, contracts, claims avoidance, insurance, and permit compliance.
Effective negotiating and dispute resolution skills.
Experience in Front End Loading (FEL or FEED) Gated processes.
Renewable industry experience and best practices.
Risk Management Certification
OSHA certification
PMP certificate.
Proficiency using Primavera P6 and SAP.
Coaching and Mentoring experience.
