Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Payments Operations Specialist I to join our team. This role requires a foundational understanding of ACH/Wire networks and electronic payments within the financial industry. The ideal candidate will support the daily processing of wholesale, business banking, and consumer payment transactions while delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers. This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, technical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional service to internal partners and customers by responding to inquiries via phone, email, and research requests.
- Process and support ACH and Wire payments, including handling inbound/outbound wires and addressing wire exceptions.
- Develop a working knowledge of Nacha Operating Rules and Guidelines, Wire Transfers, SWIFT Network, and Federal Regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, including BSA/AML procedures and dual control standards.
- Perform account and system maintenance for ACH/Wire products and services.
- Address Fed GL-reported outages using system tools and resources.
- Research and resolve wire-related issues, including consumer international wire transactions.
- Support branch associates and internal teammates with wire and payment-related inquiries.
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
- Participate in projects and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Adapt to evolving procedures and system transitions, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of bank products and services.
Organizational Relationship:
This role reports directly to the Supervisor - Payment Operations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in operations or the financial industry.
- Banking or financial experience is required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage high-risk, high-volume transactions.
- Experience with ACH/Wire processes and familiarity with Nacha, Wire, and SWIFT rules preferred.
Compensation:
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $28.16 to $31.29 per hour, based on factors including education, work experience, certifications, and location.
