Full Job Description

The Network Security Engineer (NSE) will support the Inmarsat Government Cyber team with meeting operational security objectives by applying gained expertise to a variety of information and network technologies. This position plays a critical role in achieving the goal of enforcing our corporate Cyber posture to ensure ongoing secure operations. The NSE will work with internal business units to understand system requirements, provide security recommendations, and implement solutions to ensure security.

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in network security engineering and be experienced in developing and maintaining secure network infrastructures. We require a minimum of 3 years of experience in network security engineering, along with an in-depth understanding of routing, switching, and network security protocols.

Position Responsibilities

  • Spearhead efforts to continually improve security on terrestrial networks
  • Respond to and investigate security alerts and incidents
  • Maintain and administer perimeter security systems
  • Conduct analysis of network security needs and contribute to design, integration, and installation of hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with Engineering departments to examine attack vectors and implement preventative controls
  • Prepare and present technical reports / briefings related to internal and customer security initiatives
  • Stay up to date on the latest network security products and services, industry best practices, and customer needs

Position Requirements

  • Positive attitude and highly motivated
  • Demonstrated experience working with networking products and technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of firewall technologies
  • An understanding of adversarial networking attack tactics and mitigative actions
  • Ability to effectively apply security to the system engineering process
  • Experience with policy creation and process application
  • Active SECRET clearance
  • Cyber certification (CISSP, CCNP Security, CCSP)

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with DoD / IC
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance
  • History of working within cloud environments
  • Experience ensuring systems meet and comply with RMF standards
  • Understanding of PKI management systems
  • Hands on experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Juniper, and/or Forcepoint devices
