The Membership Manager at the Child Neurology Society (CNS) will lead efforts to grow, retain, and engage members. This role focuses on aligning CNS programs and services with different member segments to communicate the value of membership clearly. Collaborating with the Executive Director, the manager will drive membership recruitment and retention campaigns while overseeing the entire membership cycle, from prospect outreach to engagement strategies.
Key responsibilities include analyzing membership trends, managing the AMS/database for member data, and ensuring effective daily membership operations. The Membership Manager also responds to member inquiries, supports committees, and provides data-driven membership reports. This full-time, nonsupervisory position reports to the Executive Director/CEO.
This remote position is in Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
This position is responsible for the following:
- Membership Strategy: Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive strategies to drive membership acquisition, engagement, and retention. Define and continuously enhance the organization's membership value proposition, benchmarking against industry best practices to improve member experience and satisfaction.
- Member Relations: Serve as the primary contact for all membership inquiries, renewals, and applications. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing member concerns, fostering engagement, and maintaining a high level of communication to strengthen member loyalty and participation.
- Awards Program Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of the awards program, from the nomination and selection process to the recognition and presentation of awards. Ensure smooth operations, engage members in the awards process, and promote recognition of outstanding contributions within the child neurology community.
- Special Interest Group (SIG) Management: Oversee the establishment of new and logistics of existing SIGs, collaborating with SIG leaders to coordinate activities and support during the annual meeting. Manage SIGs within the online community, promote SIG visibility and participation, and track SIG leadership. Provide operational and strategic insights to enhance SIG effectiveness and engagement.
- Committee Support: Serve as staff liaison for assigned committees, collaborating with committee chairs to establish and schedule meetings. Act as the primary point of contact for committee members, providing timely information about the CNS and offering administrative and logistical support to ensure smooth committee operations.
- Data & Reporting: Manage membership data effectively, ensuring records are accurate, up-to-date, and secure. Prepare detailed membership reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors, support the creation of the annual published membership report, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Financial Management: Coordinate membership dues collection and invoicing processes in partnership with the administrative team; work closely with the Executive Director on budget forecasting. Ensure membership financial processes run smoothly and that revenue targets are met.
- Member and Community Engagement: Develop and execute online programs to enhance member interaction and foster community, including new member onboarding and virtual events. Oversee the organization's online community platform to foster ongoing member engagement and design strategies to drive participation and support the growth of online communities year-round.
- Communications: Lead the execution of targeted marketing and communication plans related to membership. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications partners to develop, review, and deliver high-quality membership materials, newsletters, promotional content, and updates that effectively communicate member benefits and society news.
- Compliance: Ensure full compliance with industry standards, bylaws, membership guidelines, and internal policies. Conduct regular reviews and updates as necessary to stay aligned with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Additional Responsibilities: Contribute to the society's strategic objectives by supporting and executing key initiatives. Take on additional duties as required to further the organization's mission and goals.

Education and Experience
- Associate Degree or Certified Association Executive (CAE).
- Prior association membership experience required; 2-3 years professional society experience preferred
- Significant experience with Association Management Systems (AMS) and member database management (CiviCRM a plus).
- Master-level proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related Office Software (SharePoint, Teams, etc).
Proficiency in utilizing business software applications (i.e., Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, OpenWater, Higher Logic, etc.) - Additional Assets: Knowledge of industry trends, particularly within medical associations, is a plus.
Travel is necessary, approximately 0-10%.
