  • Provide Clinical Leadership: Lead and oversee all medical and behavioral health programs, ensuring that clinical practices align with the organization's mission, goals, and HRSA standards. Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.
  • Patient Care and Assessment: Provide comprehensive patient care, including history taking, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic treatment planning. This includes urgent and chronic care, reviewing patient medical history, and promoting healthy lifestyles and risk reduction during patient encounters.
  • Prescribing and Treatment: Prescribe medications, administer treatments (including injections), and respond to medication refill requests in a timely manner. Make referrals to specialists and community resources, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health Leadership: This collaboration is to ensure integrated and coordinated delivery of medical services within behavioral health settings. This includes working closely with behavioral health teams to align medical services with overall care strategies and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure Compliance with Regulatory Standards: Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with HRSA guidelines, federal and state regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Drive Quality Improvement Initiatives: Lead the organization’s Quality Improvement (QI) efforts, utilizing data-driven strategies to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and service delivery across all departments.
  • Emergency and Safety Protocols: Apply sound clinical judgment in emergency situations, and ensure adherence to bloodborne pathogen exposure guidelines, bodily fluid precautions, and other regulatory safety protocols.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Patient Interaction: Demonstrate respect and sensitivity to cultural and social differences in interactions with patients and staff. Ensure patient-centered care that considers physical, emotional, and financial resources.
  • Supervise and Develop Clinical Staff: Recruit, mentor, and supervise medical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Ensure ongoing professional development and adherence to clinical guidelines and organizational standards.
  • Enhance Patient Care and Safety: Oversee the implementation of patient-centered care strategies, safety protocols, and infection control practices to maintain a high standard of care and a safe environment for all patients.
  • Patient Follow-Up: Ensure appropriate follow-up care for patients, including coordination of care with specialists and community resources.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that improve service delivery, expand access to care, and promote organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Manage Clinical Operations and Resources: Oversee clinical operations to ensure efficient use of resources, including managing medical equipment, supplies, and staffing to support effective patient care.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Foster collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the medical community.
  • Represent the Health Center in External Engagements: Function as a liaison with external organizations, community partners, and public health entities to advocate for patient needs, promote public health initiatives, and enhance the health center's visibility and impact in the community.
