Galbraith Family Medicine, LLC, was founded in 2010, by husband and wife team David Galbraith, MD, and Kathryn Galbraith, MD, as an independent, rural community practice to care for the health needs of the whole family. Our focus is on providing quality care, including managing chronic illnesses, treating acute problems, and promoting a healthy lifestyle to prevent disease. As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality, and in a timely manner.
COVID-19 considerations: Patients symptomatic for or exposed to COVID are asked to reschedule or seek care at a test to treat site. We continually update preventative measures based on CDC guidance. All staff have immunity to COVID through vaccination, natural means or both.
Responsibilities:
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Interact with patients to relay physician provided instructions
- Perform basic triage questioning for common symptoms and medical problems
- Update, scan and file medical records
- Perform point-of-care laboratory tests
- Collaborate with specialist offices for consultations
- Refill prescription medicines according to a defined refill protocol
- Interface with insurance companies for prior authorizations and referrals
- Arrange hospital tests and laboratory services
- Draw blood and administer injections
- Document in the electronic record any medical care provided by you
- Assist during medical examinations and procedures
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
Skills:
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Professionalism and the ability to convey sincere compassion
- Problem solving skills and the ability to collaborate well with others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet and patient management software
- Degree in medical assistance

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Medical office: 1 year (Preferred)
- Clinical assessment: 1 year (Preferred)
- EMR Systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
