The Material Planner manages the raw materials, packaging, and miscellaneous items inventory levels, ensuring they comply with agreed stock policies while completing specific actions to level up or down to optimal levels when necessary. This role is responsible to plan and execute the ERP system signals into specific purchase orders to be received on time to meet the production long term and short-term plans. This role also manages inventory at risk and our supplier management relationships.
What You’ll Do for Us
Inventory Management:
- Enforce Flavor Manufacturing raw materials inventory policies while completing specific actions to adjust or bring inventories to optimal levels when necessary and considering warehouse capacity and shelf-life.
- Plans, schedules and monitors inbound movement of raw materials and ingredients from suppliers.
- Determines material and ingredient requirements.
- Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with production.
- Handles procurement activities related to acquisition of materials and ingredients from selected suppliers.
- Coordinates with transportation to ensure efficient, effective delivery of materials.
- Develops specifications for new contract orders.
Other responsibilities
- Applies significant on-the-job training and experience.
- Completes a range of tasks with a limited supervision.
- Follows established procedures and guidelines with the ability to modify methods and approach based on experience in the role.
- Work represents an ability to complete most of the complex day-to-day tasks but requires oversight and guidance on the most complex or non-routine activities.
- Resolves most issues without supervisory approval while obtaining supervisory guidance and approval for the most complex or non-routine activities.
- This is the Experienced level for employees that can complete 80-90 percent of the complex job duties with minimal supervision.
Qualifications & Requirements
- University degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or any technical related field.
- Master’s in business administration degree is considered a plus.
- APICS certification is considered a plus.
Experience and Critical Knowledge
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in manufacturing facility in a similar supply chain role.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Proficient in excel.
- This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to understand complex manufacturing processes and how it relates to the procurement process.
This position requires making and helping managers make key business decisions that could have a major impact on the organizational performance, both in the short and the long term.
