Full Job Description
Lee Enterprises is seeking a managing editor for planning & audience engagement at the Greensboro News & Record and Winston-Salem Journal, two newsrooms working together as one team to cover the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, while also providing content tailor-made for the Greensboro and Winston-Salem markets.
The managing editor for planning & audience engagement will report directly to the executive editor and work closely with the managing editor for news & production to increase our paying audience by giving the 1.7 million people in the Triad the stories they want and need and can't get anywhere else.
The right candidate will be a master planner and strategist who tracks metrics to establish and adjust coverage and storytelling priorities, but most importantly a leader who will work through front-line editors and with teams, including enterprise reporting and sports, to accomplish our mission of engaging and retaining digital subscribers.
This person will be a skilled communicator and an effective teacher, coach and mentor. We're looking for someone with proven success growing a digital audience, either as an editor or digital producer, and strong leadership qualities.
The Triad, anchored by the cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, is a thriving hub for arts and entertainment, growth and development and healthcare. It's home to more than 20 colleges and universities, including Wake Forest, UNC Greensboro, UNC School of the Arts, High Point University and North Carolina A&T, the nation's largest historically Black college and university.
Why Join Us?
