Position Summary
This position will provide the opportunity to contribute to student success by maintaining a clean and safe campus that promotes learning and living for a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.Promotional/Lateral Transfer Opportunity
Full-time, 12 Month, AFSCME position
3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday (Saturday and Sunday as days off)
(Subject to Change)
LOCATION: Floater, BSU Campus Wide
This is an Essential Position.
Initial assignment only. Subject to change according to institutional needs.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate employment eligibility in accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
This opportunity fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment, working with diverse students, faculty, and staff.- Supervise and provide on-the-job training for Maintainer I's
- Maintain records (attendance, supply requisitions, etc.)
- Place work orders for repairs
- Inspect equipment and tools for wear and tear
- Provide routine maintenance of equipment
- Inspect buildings for cleanliness and needed repairs
- Clean and maintain assigned work areas and perform related duties as required
- All aspects of cleaning and general building maintenance. including; clean campus property, empty wastebaskets, move and set up furniture, sweep walkways, vacuum, wash floors, move material
- Perform a variety of related indoor/outdoor general maintenance tasks including snow removal
- Perform and oversee periodic large scale project cleaning duties or maintenance projects
Required Qualifications
- Commitment to customer service excellence/support to enhance an environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Applicants must have at least one year full-time, or equivalent experience in custodial or institution housekeeping work
- Knowledge of the methods followed in building custodial and maintenance work
- Ability to supervise, plan and assign work
- Good oral communication skills
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
- Knowledge of building maintenance methods, materials and safety practices
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to follow instructions
- Willingness and ability to lift and carry heavy objects
- Willingness and ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty and staff
- Physical stamina
- Ability to shovel snow
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer skills (i.e., attendance, departmental correspondence, email, internet, Schooldude, etc.).
- Current and valid Drivers License
