Laboratory Technician - Level 1

Shift Schedule: 2nd Shift / Off Shift

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performing assay specific procedures, maintaining complete records of all testing, participating in performing investigational testing, revising or implementing procedures, assisting in planning of daily work, maintaining necessary stock of required equipment and supplies, performing computer analysis and data entry, participating in regulatory activities, assisting in training and actively participates in safety initiatives.

• Required to use analytical equipment (such as Gas Chromatograph Systems, Balances, Spectrophotometers, Microscopes), operating equipment (such as Vaporous Hydrogen Peroxide Generators, Isolators) and computer systems (such Laboratory Information Management System, Outlook , Excel).

• Coordinate, perform, read, record for gram staining, microbial identification of known or unknown cultures, bio-burden testing on process intermediates and water, mycoplasma testing on bulk process in intermediates, bacteriophage, purity, identity, phenol, growth promotion, antimicrobial effectiveness, sterility, tuberculosis in vitro, Volume of Fill, Lipopolysaccharide, replica plating, and bead breakage testing

• Prepare standard culture suspension and maintains all seeds for microbiological assays.

Education Minimum Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or related discipline, e.g. Chemistry, Medial Technology.

The following minimum course are also required:

• Eight (8) semesters of biological science course work to include, but not limited to, General Biology, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Immunology, Virology, Parasitology, Physiology, Mycology or Molecular Biology.

• A minimum of two (2) laboratory courses is required.

• Four (4) semesters of chemistry including General Chemistry with laboratory, Organic Chemistry and/or Biochemistry.

• Two (2) semesters of college level mathematics.
