Because what we do here is important, but how we do it is everything.THE COMMERCIAL TEAMOur strong project management teams, dedicated in-house engineering resources and skilled union field staff work together seamlessly to deliver commercial projects that are as innovative and unique as the clients who build them.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Instrumentation and Controls Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the planning, coordination, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater facilities. This role involves working closely with project teams, technicians, and electricians to ensure that control systems are designed, installed, calibrated, and tested to meet project requirements. The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations related to instrumentation and controls, ensuring that project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols are adhered to.The ideal candidate will have a proven background in instrumentation and control systems, with the ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams and stakeholders. They will be the key point of contact for troubleshooting, providing technical direction, and ensuring that all systems are integrated and operational within the scope of the project.Develop, update, and maintain procedures for instrumentation and control system checkout, integrated system test, calibration, and operation. Provide technical direction to site teams in the installation, checkout, calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of the respective systems. Review design and construction documents for I&C and create and maintain consolidated and fully coordinated block diagrams and interconnect diagrams for all projects. Collaborate with engineers, process system vendors, project managers, and technicians to ensure that control systems meet all functional, safety, and regulatory requirements. Maintain and update controls schematics related to instrumentation and control systems. Provide technical direction and support to field technicians and electricians during the installation and commissioning phases of the project. Review and evaluate vendor proposals for control systems & instruments, ensuring compliance with project specifications. Coordinate and manage the procurement, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control hardware/software. Ensure that all control systems are documented, and that training materials are developed for operations and maintenance staff. Provide ongoing support for system troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades. Knowledge:Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Barriers to entry such as technical committee review exist at this level.Job Complexity:Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.Supervision:Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. May supervise the activities of others.WORK ENVIRONMENTVisual and physical contact of test system hardware and installed test articles. Multiple workstation assignments (office, test facility, control room, laboratory, shops, etc.). Transportation of notebooks, drawings, forms, etc. required. Work is accomplished in an office, control room, and in and around project facilities Some work areas are high in noise.Work assignments are usually during normal work hours, but overtime is frequently necessary to support meetings, test schedules, and test operations. Testing may occur any day or time of day, depending on the schedule and test requirements. Regular daily attendance to a CEI Office is required to maintain team effectiveness. Travel to the different project sites will be required.ABOUT YOUExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated experience in producing system documentation, procedures, and training materials. In-depth knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including signal conditioning, data acquisition, and Programmable lLogic Controllers (PLC). Familiarity with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, instrumentation calibration and testing, and specialized measurement equipment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Ability to identify, examine, and resolve complex issues related to instrumentation and controls. Good communication and interpersonal skills are highly desirable as the Controls Engineer will interface with Engineers and Technicians. Produce system documentation and procedures and train personnel. Strong knowledge and understanding of water and wastewater treatment testing and facility operations. - PC computer operations (MS Windows [XP, 7] and Macintosh OSX, MS Office).
- Signal conditioning and data acquisition and processing hardware and programming (National Instruments LabVIEW).
- Programmable logic controller hardware and programming (GE Proficy, Rockwell RSLogix, Emerson Ovation).
- Human-Machine (i.e., User) Interface hardware and design.
- Test instrumentation (multimeter, oscilloscope, pressure / temperature / electrical calibrators).
- Specialized measurement instrumentation (position, pressure, temperature, and flow transducers and switches).
