$66.292 - $85.537 - $104.783The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
To perform the activities of the infection surveillance and control program developed to minimize the incidence of nosocomial infections in patients, staff, and visitors
Required Qualifications
- 3 Years Experience in acute care hospital, health care facility or similar military program.
Preferred Qualifications
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -PREFERRED
- International Medical Technologist MT(ASCP) - ASCP Board of Certification -PREFERRED
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology -PREFERRED
Other Qualification Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Nursing (other degree programs will be considered combined with relevant experience) - Required
Essential Functions
- Assists in development, implementation, and improvement of infection control practices
Maintains and utilizes knowledge of current CDC guidelines, JCAHO standards, State and local regulations pertaining to infection control.
Reviews and disseminates current infection control information to individuals and departments based upon needs assessment and requests.
Acts as resource to nursing, ancillary, and medical staff to respond to concerns regarding infection control practices.
Works with other support department (MM, EVS, Nursing) to insure that process is in place to allow for compliance with appropriate infection control practices.
Demonstrates ability to develop infection control policies and procedures using all guidelines and regulations that pertain to policy. - Infection surveillance activities
Creates quarterly nosocomial surveillance reports
Tracks epidemiologically significant organisms
Demonstrates ability to identify patterns and clusters of pathogens.
Reports contain graphic display of data, analysis of data, and action plans as appropriate
Assembles performance improvement team to review issues and create action plans
Demonstrates ability to perform outbreak investigation - Training and education
Post-testing demonstrates learning occurred
A variety of departments are inserviced on an annual basis
Identifies learning needs of staff
Utilizes teaching methods as integral part of targeted performance improvement Projects
