PURPOSE STATEMENT
The host/hostess is the first associate to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. They are the personal representation of the service and overall first impression of the hospitality of the staff of the restaurant. It is the job of the hostess to greet arriving guests, welcome them and seat them.
While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders to be ready, it is the job of the host/hostess to ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their wait times and orders. The host/hostess should suggest waiting at the bar if dining in.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
- Plan out the seating chart and organize the reservations
- Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant, estimating wait times for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.
- Responsible for answering the telephone and checking voice mail, booking reservations and assist with moving tables together to accommodate large parties
- Escort the guests to their table, pull seat out for the ladies, and present menus; ensure all menus are wiped down, free of spots or stains, and complete
- Communicate with servers, e.g. when guests are seated, when sections become full
- Ensure entry doors are clean, free of debris and inviting; inspect dining room for neatness and cleanliness
- Say a warm goodbye and thank you to guests
- Assists or fills where necessary when requested by restaurant manager
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- HS Diploma or GED
- Very personable and professional
- Ability to read and write English fluently
- Follow instructions verbally and in written form
- Have basic assessment and math skills to estimate wait times for guests
- Fluent in foreign language(s) is an asset but not required
- Able to stand for long periods of time during work day
- Visual acuity to inspect cleanliness of menus, tables, entry way, and dining area
COMPENSATION
In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"),reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.
