Overview:
As the Global Portfolio Director – General Medicine, you will lead, develop, nurture, and sustain a Global Project Management group delivering a critically important, capital investment portfolio to support GSK growth ambitions and the needs of continuing compliant manufacturing, that support billions of sales. You will develop, direct, and support multiple project teams in different geographies, able to deliver safe, on time and on budget projects at the quality required by the business. Furthermore, you will support Supply Chains and Manufacturing Groups to define their ongoing capital needs and guide and support the delivery of their local capital projects. You will have visible leadership within the project management by acting as an advocate of capital project best practice as a member of the GCP Leadership Team and ensuring that GSK’s safety ambitions are met, through demonstrating commitment to zero accidents or incidents and act as exemplar of best practice
Key responsibilities:
- Full accountability for delivery of the capital plan for area of responsibility, which may flex over time, in line with the capital plan and complexities
- Direction of the delivery strategy for the projects comprising the portfolios, ensuring that project strategies are well matched to safe and secure delivery in the geography the project is being delivered in
- Development and delivery of an annual business and improvement plan to meet the business demands whilst improving safety, reliability, and cost efficiency of delivery
- Act as an escalation and expert resource for all project issues and challenges. Represent the project on key strategy and steering teams and in GSC level meetings on strategy and delivery
- Ensure compliant delivery and direct assurance processes to ensure all requirements for safe, secure and ethical practice are in place and in operation
- Represent GSK and the project with external bodies at the highest level. Research, seek and drive the latest Design and Construction Technology (Modularisation, Componentisation, Engineering Data Management, Digital delivery)
- Understand the impact of cGMP on the design & delivery of projects and ensure alignment with all regulatory requirements and the QMS
- Act as a visible advocate for diversity in engineering and project delivery and for GSK Safety Life Saving Rules
Basic Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering
- Deep and broad understanding of the capital project lifecycle from Design to Operation
- 15 years plus experience in design & delivery of high-tech life science projects
- Direct experience of delivering complicated construction projects
- Understanding of the economics and commercial realities of construction and contracting
- Direction of multiple projects as either a programme manager or as a project group lead
- Direct experience of leading projects in global and diverse cultures
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Advanced degree such as Masters or similar in engineering, construction, or project management
- Understanding of the global supply chain for pharmaceuticals capital services, including engineering, construction, process equipment and construction management
- Deep understanding of the construction industry and how projects are delivered in the pharmaceutical industry
- Able to work in a matrixed environment and across different geographies
- Understand the changing lifecycle of facilities and the changes in base investments required to maintain supply chain assets as technologies change
- The role is truly global and so experience of how investments change by geography and an understanding and appreciation of trends and regional and local capabilities to be able to adapt solutions and focus design and execution strategies to be successful
