Global Head of R&D, Patient Care Informatics

Manages different functional/competency teams, units and respective budgets within R&D software development focused on shaping and delivering new or upgrading existing software and solutions to create superior customer value. Selects talent, supervises, coaches and evaluates the performance of software development personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the software development function. To create a positive customer experience, acts as the enabler for the teams responsible for the adoption, success and ongoing improvement of agile development and software development practices. Acts as key liaison with other functions and organizations outside R&D to drive business results all to ensure great customer digital solutions are developed.

Your role:

  • Translates the organization's business goals, customer/ market needs and technical strategy (in accordance to the HealthSuite Reference Architecture - Solutions oriented, Cloud, DevOps, etc.) into a transformation plan and drive this across the teams.
  • Provides clearly defined success criteria and levels of accountability per team/ train.
  • Executes the organization’s strategy, providing clearly defined success criteria and levels of accountability for individuals in the team. Removes impediments for the progress of the teams and acts as an escalation point.
  • Focuses on customers by understanding their needs to design and implement solutions.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality software at a sustainable speed, maintaining an advanced level of software craftmanship as established by the SW CoE.
  • Ensures adherence to all applicable development processes, legal, quality, security and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to the technical innovation of the product and/or systems which the teams are accountable for by providing insights, hands-on technical reviews and continuous feedback.
  • Stays up to date on the relevant technology domain. Enjoys self-learning and brings new technical practices and innovations to the team.
  • Collaborates with relevant internal and external parties establishing an effective network to obtain input on technological developments, identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Develops high-performing teams: use best-in-class practices regarding recruitment and selection, adequate staffing, renumeration, goal setting and performance appraisals and people development. Make use of technical content and deliverables as well as feedback from others when appropriate.
  • Drives an engaged, innovative, and inspiring working environment in the teams by motivating, challenging and coaching employees.
  • Actively manages the portfolio of resources, tools and training to accomplish current and future key objectives. Manages the needed capabilities whilst developing and maintaining a long-term view on the required competencies and knowledge.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s/MS/PhD degree in Engineering/ Computer Sciences or related field
  • 15+ years of experience (achievement and leadership) in software development
  • Track record in successfully managing large, scalable, localizable software solutions (radiology informatics preferred)
  • Proven success in managing innovation projects for large complex organizations.
  • Has the ability to drive development efforts from an on-prem to a cloud-native environment.
  • Drive the cultural shift in R&D and push/ drive the team to new way of thinking and acting with design for service and DevOps for on-prem and cloud solutions
  • Demonstrated ability working with key stakeholders to shape innovation pipeline with new concepts and ideas while shaping the business portfolio
  • Demonstrated experience leading large global multi-disciplinary teams—the ability to partner with critical stakeholders including Q&R, Service, PMO and other enabling functions.
  • Proven successful experience in designing and executing the localization of software solutions for several countries in parallel.
  • Strong and inspiring people leader with a track record of performance and leading large development teams in multiple geographies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a global and highly matrixed environment.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position is $198,000 to $366,000, annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
