The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the leasing accounting and analysis in compliance with ASC 842 for Mosaic. Responsibilities will include leading the review and analysis of leasing contracts to identify right-of-use components, non-lease components, and embedded leases; leading the preparation and analysis of leasing related reports and templates; developing financial models for lease accounting validation and review; and performing lease vs. buy analysis. This person will also partner with various areas of the business (including Treasury, Accounts Payable, Procurement, I/T, Business Partnership, Financial Reporting) on the leasing process to ensure accurate lease accounting and reporting.
What will you be challenged to do?
Ensure that all new and amended leases are documented and reviewed in accordance with ASC 842. Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger entries and monthly metrics reports. Perform monthly completeness analysis and reconciliations of the lease portfolio. Analyze and maintain a complete and accurate sub-ledger for portfolio of locations. Prepare the reporting and disclosure of lease information.
Participate in and lead assigned portion of the coordination of the leasing month end close process and ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the close. Lead the preparation of balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations and preparation of quarterly financial reporting disclosures. Develop financial models for lease accounting validation and review and perform lease vs buy analysis. Partner with various areas of the business (including Treasury, Accounts Payable, Procurement, I/T, Operations Finance, Financial Reporting) on the leasing process and to ensure accurate lease accounting and reporting
Develop and provide technical overview, analysis, and conclusions of the accounting treatment for various service agreements and contracts relative to ASC 842 accounting while maintaining and complying with Mosaic’s accounting policies and procedures.
Partner with various departments within the organization to track global leases and define processes
Partner with the Enterprise Accounting leadership to develop and provide technical overview, analysis, and conclusions of the accounting treatment for various service agreements and contracts relative to ASC 842 accounting while maintaining and complying with Mosaic’s accounting policies and procedures. Monitor compliance as well as maintain SOX standards at all times. Other projects and job duties as assigned.
What do you need for this role?
Bachelor's Degree required, major in Accounting, Finance or Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
Masters Degree or CPA preferred
3+ years of finance, accounting or financial analysis experience
Excellent understanding and familiarity with GAAP and the ability to apply these principles in practice
Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and practices
Broad understanding of internal controls
No experience needed if Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or Certified Public Accountant
Experience with ASC 842 analysis and accounting preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced Excel skills
Experience/knowledge of SAP preferred
