Position Summary:
The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for directly contributing to software and firmware development projects. Responsibilities increase from previous levels and will require a small amount of technical leadership, increased autonomy, and deeper technical skills.
Projects may be at various stages when the candidate joins, so this position will be dynamic and changing according to project needs. Writing and reviewing functional specifications based on business requirements, writing code, documenting code, testing and validating, or supporting products in the field are all within scope of this position.
As a Firmware Engineer, technical aptitude grows in software principals and hardware fundamentals. The level of effort required to manage the engineer lessens as the engineer grows in experience.
Essential Position Duties:
A candidate for this position possesses the following soft skills and technical competencies.

- Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a customer-centric manner
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams
- Capable of working autonomously with proper guidance and training
- Must be flexible and willing to learn new skills
- Responsible for the design and quality of a single module or component that, with other modules and components, comprise a larger system
- Committed to working in an alert and safe manner and with engineering rigor while upholding Toyota’s Core Values at all times
Technical competencies:
- 2-5 years experience in development using Operating Systems
- 2-5 years experience in bare metal projects
- 2-5 years project experience using object orientated languages and functional languages
- Experience creating strong technical documentation
- Additional duties assigned as necessary.
Education:
Bachelors of Science in one of the following degrees is required for this position:
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
