The role:

Join our team as driver education quality assurance where you will analyze and monitor ODOT approved driver education providers and instructors to assure compliance with requirements. You will provide technical assistance and education, research and investigate incidents of suspected non-compliance and impose sanctions as necessary. Apply today!

A day in the life:

  • Conduct inspections of driver education programs, assessing program records, materials and methods.

  • Conduct instructor observation during classroom and in-car lessons to determine instructor effectiveness and assure best practice.

  • Maintain documentation and prepare reports, notices and orders following requirements. Impose sanctions on instructors or providers when indicated and conduct investigations in response to suspected non-compliance or complaint.

  • Provide technical assistance to providers and instructors regarding safe practices, requirements, guidance and policy.

  • Respond timely and provide accurate information to internal and external customers.

  • Participate in Driver Education Advisory Committee meetings and attend and present at conferences and workshops.

  • Work in a standard office environment interacting with public and private schools, colleges and private businesses. In-car lesson observations require close proximity to others with a vehicle under control by a novice driver.

  • Hybrid work options available with in office work required one day per week.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification;

OR

A bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
