About the opportunity:

As a senior leader at Deerfield, a premier Life Plan Community, the Director of Marketing & Transitions is responsible for creating and executing innovative marketing, communication, and transition strategies. This role plays a critical part in shaping Deerfield's presence in the community, guiding prospective residents through their journey, and ensuring that Deerfield remains a center of aging excellence.

This dynamic position requires a visionary leader who is passionate about aging services and committed to Deerfield's mission to enrich the lives of residents and staff. The Director of Marketing & Transitions will drive Deerfield's strategic marketing initiatives, manage a high-performing team, and collaborate cross-departmentally to align with Deerfield's four strategic pillars:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

Develop and lead the overall marketing and communication strategies to support Deerfield's strategic pillars, positioning the community as a lifestyle and wellbeing leader.
Oversee the brand's vision and maintain Deerfield's reputation as a top-tier CCRC, cultivating strong relationships with prospective residents, families, and the broader community.
Lead the Marketing & Transitions team with a collaborative, innovative, and goal-driven mindset, fostering a culture of excellence, enthusiasm, and continuous improvement.
Support organizational growth by executing dynamic initiatives to enhance Deerfield's market presence, such as launching new programs, digital marketing strategies, and engagement efforts.

Marketing & Communications:

Develop and execute compelling marketing campaigns that highlight Deerfield's unique offerings and attract future residents, leveraging multimedia platforms, including digital, print, and social media.
Manage the ad agency relationship for external communication, in partnership with other Deerfield communications stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with Deerfield's mission and strategic goals.
Collaborate on internal communications to keep residents, staff, and stakeholders informed about community developments, transitions, and future growth.
Sales & Transitions Management:

Guide prospects through every step of the move-in process, ensuring smooth transitions and personalized experiences.
Lead outreach efforts to potential residents, families, and influencers within the field of aging services, creating impactful connections and building long-term relationships.
Maintain an expert knowledge of Deerfield's contracts, residency agreements, and application processes, ensuring seamless management and adherence to policies.
Event & Community Engagement:

Lead and oversee key events designed to engage prospective residents, current residents, and community partners. These may include open houses, educational seminars, and community outreach efforts.
Collaborate with the Wellbeing and Resident Life teams to ensure marketing efforts support lifestyle programs and transitions that enrich the resident experience.
Financial Stewardship & Reporting:

Develop and manage the marketing department's annual budget, ensuring effective use of resources to maximize Deerfield's marketing reach while maintaining financial responsibility.
Provide regular reports to the ED, CEO, and Board of Directors on key marketing metrics, sales activities, and transition outcomes, highlighting progress toward strategic goals.
Analyze trends and market data to ensure Deerfield remains competitive and responsive to the changing needs of older adults.
Team Leadership & Development:

Inspire, mentor, and lead the Marketing & Transitions team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture where each team member is empowered to contribute to Deerfield's success.
Collaborate cross-departmentally with Resident Life, Wellbeing, and Clinical teams to ensure that marketing and transitions align with the overall resident experience.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
5-10 years of marketing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within a CCRC or the aging services industry.
Proven experience in leading strategic marketing initiatives, building brands, and managing teams.
Strong understanding of the senior living industry and trends in aging services, as well as experience in transitioning and onboarding residents.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and contribute to Deerfield's vision.
