Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our engineering teams in developing innovative patient outreach platforms. This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex stakeholder relationships, oversee technical projects, and drive operational excellence across our engineering functions. The Director will play a critical role in enhancing patient engagement through various communication channels, including SMS and calling, while ensuring the technical maturity of our platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, excellent business acumen, and the ability to inspire and mentor a seasoned engineering team.


As the Director of Engineering, you will lead with the ability to dig deep with engineers, coach/mentor on technical design where necessary and deliver high business impact on projects of increasing dependencies and ambiguity. You will lead a team of individual contributors in the development of technology that saves lives and improves mental and physical health for millions of people.

Primary Duties:

  • Build a high performing team by hiring and nurturing engineering talent.
  • Strong technical leadership - drive technical solutioning and building roadmaps.
  • Set aggressive and clear goals and remove all roadblocks for the team to achieve them.
  • Working seamlessly and collaboratively with stakeholders across Aledade to achieve business outcomes.
  • Work closely with engineering leaders to drive engineering excellence in our processes and systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BTech (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of production-level experience as an engineer and technical lead building highly scalable and reliable software. 
  • 5+ years of managerial experience building and leading technical engineering teams.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Strongly Preferred:
  • Technical Leadership: Proven experience in guiding technical teams and architects, with a strong focus on building scalable platforms.
  • Experience building scalable, configurable platforms using SMS/Texting and Calling.
  • Hands-On Technical Expertise: Experience in full-stack development, particularly with technologies such as Python, JavaScript, AWS, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience evaluating third party vendors and integrating them into complex platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups, including leadership teams and operational departments.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Proficiency in representing engineering interests in key leadership meetings and discussions.
  • Team Management: Ability to lead and mentor a team of seasoned engineers, managing performance and professional growth.
  • Background in Scaling Software Solutions: Proven track record of building and scaling software solutions in fast-paced environments, preferably within traditional software or healthcare tech industries.
