Duties
The incumbent will:
- Provide leadership and coordination of national laboratory readiness and response and laboratory data exchange program activities for OLSR. Identify and analyze issues and their impact on laboratory response and data exchange policies as they relate to programs.
- Serve as the Lab Task Force lead or provide leadership as the deputy or team lead during CDC activated response for any response defined by CDC Graduated Response Framework (GRF). As lead, coordinate diagnostic testing needs and laboratory system development for specific response through engagement with federal, public health, and private sector partners.
- Serve as an advisor and aid the Director on policies, activities, and operations in the management of the office programs. Serve on review committees, workgroups, public health task forces, or comparable groups' delegated responsibility for reviewing and developing public health policies, procedures, and guidelines as they relate to laboratory response and data exchange programs.
- Provide leadership/executive direction, planning, coordination, and strategic vision, fully sharing with the Director, the responsibility for the overall management of OLSR, act in the Director's absence and also represent the Director on various committees and at meetings with authority to speak for the Director and commit resources.

Qualifications
Current federal employees must be at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or above to be considered for this position.Current active-duty PHS officers must have served or be serving in an O6 billet/position to be considered for this position.
Basic Qualifications for RF-0601:
Applicants must possess a degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the basic qualifications requirement, a Ph.D. in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position is required.
Additional Requirements:
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements, applicants must also possess one year of specialized experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, such as leadership experience directing, and overseeing multi-functional programmatic public health laboratory readiness and response activities with an extensive breadth of laboratory, data exchange, and response program knowledge. Typically, experience of this nature is gained at or above the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
