The Opportunity
Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic Culinary Generalist to join our Culinary Team. In this role, you will be collaborating closely with the broader Corporate HR-Facilities & Culinary team, where you’ll be instrumental in continuing to make Hyatt a leading hospitality company. The Role
The Culinary Generalist supports the creative direction of the food and beverage experience for the corporate office, contributing to all experiential aspects through true care and hospitality toward all guests, owners, and colleagues. This position is accountable for daily directions as assigned by the Executive Chef.
This is a high-profile position given that it services all internal colleagues, senior executives, ExCom, and high-level events such as the BOD meetings and other high-profile business meetings.
Daily tasks are assigned by the Executive Chef and may include, but are not limited to:
•Preparing and cooking a wide variety of dishes, following specific recipes and dietary requirements.
•Coordinate event setup and cleanup with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring seamless execution and delivering a high level of client satisfaction.
•Ensure strict adherence to kitchen and sanitation standards, policies, and safety procedures, promptly reporting any issues as they arise.
•Stocking and maintaining the Café and food service areas, ensuring a well-organized and clean environment.
•Assist F&B Operations when required to provide excellent customer service and efficiently handle cashless transactions using digital payment methods.
•Procure F&B supplies, ensuring all purchases align with budgetary constraints while meeting operational needs.
•Organize and care for operation supplies and equipment to ensure items are safely stored, maintained, and readily available for use while minimizing loss and breakage.
•Dishwashing duties with a focus on cleanliness, hygiene, and adherence to food safety standards.
•Schedule Flexibility is a requirement as some events happen outside traditional working hours
Additional Responsibilities:
•Demonstrate ability to efficiently manage daily catering operations and accommodate special requests from the Office of the Chairman of the Board.
•Skilled at multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adjust schedules according to business needs
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and professionally with associates, management, clients, and vendors.
•Exceptional attention to detail, organizational prowess, and a commitment to thoroughness in all tasks.
•Sound decision-making abilities, with an initiative-taking approach to identifying and implementing necessary adjustments.
Qualifications
Experience Required:
•2+ years of Food and Beverage Experience
•2+ years of Service Experience in Hospitality with luxury or corporate office environment preference
•Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
•High School Diploma or Equivalent
•Illinois Food Handler Certification required
•POS Square or other System knowledge
