Full Job Description

Summary

Alkermes is seeking a Process Automation engineer for our Wilmington, OH site responsible for providing support for control systems related to Manufacturing, Clinical, Utilities, Lab, and Pilot Plant Operations.  Job responsibilities include maintaining standard software applications and custom modifications, resolving application issues, conducting application training and development of related SOPs, and supporting software system validation in a GMP environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the planning, development, and deployment of Process Automation control system solutions
  • Apply knowledge and support for 21CFR part 11 and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Write documentation and assist with the validation of control systems
  • Provide manufacturing run-the business support including some after-hour on-call coverage
  • Execute change controls and applicable maintenance of related control systems

Requirements Engineer I

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or Computer Science); or degree in process, with 0-2 years of experience with manufacturing control systems
  • Basic understanding and experience with manufacturing control systems hardware and software

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Siemens or Rockwell Software automation systems experience
  • ControlLogix PLC programming experience
  • FT View HMI programming experience

Requirements Engineer II

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or Computer Science); or degree in process, with 2- 5 years of applicable experience with manufacturing control systems
  • Basic understanding and experience with manufacturing control systems hardware and software

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Siemens or Rockwell Software automation systems experience
  • ControlLogix PLC programming experience
  • FT View HMI programming experience
  • FT Batch automation systems and S88 experience

Competencies

  • Understands technical details of manufacturing control systems
  • Applies analytical problem-solving skills in the troubleshooting of control systems
  • Focuses on work results outcomes, not only task completion
  • Coordinates activities independently with others
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in an office and a manufacturing environment.  

Travel

  • The travel requirements for this job are low; expected domestic travel 1-2 times per year
