This position is supported in part by the NIH Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) and augmented by the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT), https://research.umich.edu/m-pact/. The NIH FIRST Program aims to transform academic culture to build a self-reinforcing community of scientists committed to diversity and inclusive excellence.

  • Program Areas of research and teaching can be broad and may include, but are not limited to:
  • Clinical translational research to discover or refine therapeutic approaches
  • Health informatics and data science approaches to transforming clinical practice
  • Health services research to understand and improve clinical practice and outcomes.

The above topics applied to specific practice areas within underrepresented populations such as pregnancy, pediatrics, geriatrics, or other health issues affecting underrepresented minority communities

The successful candidate will have 75% protected research time for their first 7 years and will be expected to build an independent, externally funded research program. Teaching and service expectations will be defined in collaboration with the Department Chair. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for or experience with leadership in research and professional activities, including publication, research funding, participation in collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives, and service to the College, University, and broader academic community. They must be able to articulate how they will support the College's mission.
